The opening of Anna Abramowicz’s painting exhibition, ‘Each of Them Is You’, will take place on 15 September at 6.00 pm at the ‘Śródmieście’ Community Centre in Białystok (13 Kilińskiego Street, 2nd floor).
The exhibition is open until 14 October, from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00-18:00. Free entrance!
‘Each of them is you’ is a story about femininity in its various guises – delicate and strong, serene and sensual, full of light, yet also full of mystery. The protagonists of the exhibition are women. Each is different, each lost in her own world. Yet they are united by more than just their similar beauty. They are like different fragments of a single story – a story in which every woman can find a part of herself.
“A recurring motif in the works is flowers, which intertwine with portraits of women, sometimes subtly surrounding them, and sometimes obscuring their eyes and part of their faces. They become a symbol of delicacy, transformation and beauty, which is not always immediately apparent. Gold, bright colours and three-dimensional structures lend the paintings an extra dimension and cause them to change with the light and the viewer’s perspective. ‘Each of them is you’ is an invitation not to look for specific individuals in the women depicted. These are images of emotions, moods and the various facets of femininity.”

She works as a make-up artist on a daily basis, which is why the female face and portraiture hold a special place in her work. In her paintings, she focuses on femininity, emotions, delicacy and strength. Her works are characterised by three-dimensional, hand-modelled flowers, golden accents and a combination of painterly realism with a distinctive texture.
Anna is self-taught and has spent years developing her craft through her own practice and the knowledge she has gained from the artists she has met. She grew up surrounded by creative passion – her father, an antique restorer, introduced her to the world of the arts. Thanks to this, even as a child she honed her early painting skills directly under the guidance of renowned artists, exploring, amongst other things, the secrets of pencil drawing and oil painting. For many years, painting remained an important, private creative space for her. It was only recently that she decided to show her paintings to a wider audience. ‘Each of Them Is You’ is her first solo exhibition – a moment when painting, which has been part of her life since childhood, steps out of the private sphere for the first time and is presented to the public.
