Encounter with history: Art by female hands

The next ‘Meeting with History’ will take place on 4 November at 6 p.m.!

The culture of Podlasie and Białystok is a poorly researched area. The loss of a huge number of monuments and archival sources does not make the work any easier, and tracking down traces of the past is like putting together a mosaic from thousands of scattered fragments. In our region, which we so often like to describe as multicultural, it is this multiculturalism that gives Podlasie’s art history its special value. The lecture will be a story about female artists from Białystok who were active from the 18th to the 20th century. There were outstanding figures among the group of artists, but it is not only them who are worth remembering. It is artists who create the identity of a city, regardless of the subjective assessments of contemporaries, they all left their mark on local art history and created the culture of the city at different times. The meeting will be led by Dr Joanna Tomalska-Więcek, an art historian.

Spotkanie odbędzie się 4 listopada o godz. 18:00 w Domu Kultury „Śródmieście” w Białymstoku (ul. Kilińskiego 13, II piętro)! Free entrance!
