You are invited to the exhibition ‘Faces of Childhood’ by Magdalena Pietraszko. The opening will take place on September 3, 2024.
Magdalena Agata Pietraszko was born in Lublin and has lived in Białystok for several years. She became interested in portrait painting when she was still in primary school – it is one of her favourite forms of art, now an important part of her professional life. She creates in various techniques: oil paint on canvas, acrylics, watercolour, dry pastels on paper, charcoal and pencil. Her works are in the possession of both Polish art lovers and foreign art lovers (from Switzerland, Germany, USA, Great Britain, Russia). She is interested in surrealism and symbolism, but also in realistic portrait painting and large-format painting (murals). She is the artist of two murals in the Blue Room at the Hospice for Adults ‘House of Divine Providence’ in Białystok (‘God’s Hands’ and ‘Eye of Providence’), as well as the author of the project for the mural of General Officer Nikodem Sulik in Kawaleryjska Street in Białystok. She was a coordinator and artistic consultant of the completed projects of the mural of J.K. Branicki ‘It grows what you pay attention to’ and the mural of Izabela Branicka entitled ‘To the shadows of greatness and virtue’.
She has presented her surrealist paintings, among others, in London at Chelsea Old Town Hall (2013), during Out Off Control Production in Białystok (2010) and during an author exhibition at the Wrocław Opera House (2008).
– Painting brings me joy. For me, it is a kind of meditation, a way of temporarily ‘escaping’ from the reality around me, stepping out of my other roles. This is how I pursue my interests and passions, how I get to know the world, people and myself – says the artist. The portraits reflect not only the external features of the person portrayed, but also their character, inner experiences, emotions and mood. A children’s portrait evokes memories and becomes a family heirloom for many generations. For the young model, on the other hand, it allows them to discover their own uniqueness.
The opening of the exhibition ‘Faces of Childhood’ by Magdalena Pietraszko will take place on September 3 (Tuesday) at 18:00 at the “Śródmieście” Community Center in Białystok (13 Jan Kiliński street, second floor). The exhibition can be viewed from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 and 17:00, free admission.
The exhibition will be open until September 26, 2024.
