We invite you to the exhibition. The opening will take place on September 28, 2024.
On February 24, when Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, I packed up and left Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine for the West. These photos were taken on that trip – leaving home, I took panoramas of Ukraine on a day that will change it forever. Shooting in panoramic mode causes errors and flaws, reflecting the distortions, distortions and uncertainties that come with times of crisis.
Igor Chekachkov was born in Kharkiv (Ukraine) in 1989. He started working as a photojournalist in 2008, covering a wide range of cultural, mass and sports events. This experience led him to the field of art photography, which he continues to explore. The borders between public and intimate spaces. Modern digital algorithms and their impact on the image. Until the Russian invasion of Ukraine, these were the author’s main areas of photographic interest. After the outbreak of war, he fully focused on Ukrainian identity and the notion of home.
The opening of the exhibition ‘Leaving Home’ by Igor Chekachkov will take place on September 28 (Saturday) at 5 p.m. in the ‘Srodmiescie’ Community Center in Bialystok (13 Jana Kilińskiego Street, 2nd floor). The author’s works can be viewed from Tuesday to Friday at 10:00-17:00, free entrance.
The exhibition will be open until October 10, 2024.
Exhibition realized as part of the International Photography Festival Bialystok Interphoto 2024.
