Exhibition of paintings ‘Mental Maps’ by Dominika Borys-Prus

Municipal Art Salon: Exhibition of paintings ‘Mental Maps’ by Dominika Borys-Prus starting on 18 November!

The presented works are a series created using a mixed technique, combining elements of collage (glued maps) with intense painting. The visual layer is built with acrylic paints, contour pens and sand. This complex surface structure emphasises the layered nature of memory and emotions. The key elements of the composition are fragments of real city and country maps, glued onto canvas and painted metaphors of the inner world: feelings and memories. The artist abandons the representation of the world in order to recreate it, fully subordinating it to her emotional compass.

The opening of Dominika Borys-Prus’ exhibition ‘Mind Maps’ will take place on 18 November 2025. at 6 p.m. at the Śródmieście Cultural Centre in Białystok (ul. Kilińskiego 13, 2nd floor). The exhibition will be open until 30 December, Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 10:00-18:00. Free entrance!

Dominika Borys-Prus (born in 1993 in Sokółka) is a painter and graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where she studied painting, specialising in architectural painting (2012–2017). She runs her own art studio in Białystok, where she creates large, abstract paintings for homes and offices. Her work focuses on minimalist, organic forms that harmoniously fit into the space and give it character, energy and depth. Dominika Borys-Prus invites art into everyday life. She believes that paintings do not have to be reserved for galleries and connoisseurs – they can be close to people, present in their homes, workplaces and daily rituals. Her mission is to bring art closer to those who want to surround themselves with beauty every day, without unnecessary distance and pathos. In her studio, she creates both ready-made paintings available on the website dborys-art.pl and custom-made works, created in dialogue with the person and the space.

The painter’s artistic achievements include numerous individual and collective exhibitions, and her works are held in private collections in Poland and abroad. She is a scholarship holder of the Minister of Science and Higher Education (2017).

On a daily basis, apart from her artistic activities, she also works as an applied arts teacher at the Youth Culture Centre ZPO No. 2 in Białystok, where she conducts her own classes developing creativity in children and young people, as well as sensitivity to form and colour.
